International Yoga Day 2019, Benefits & Asanas to Follow
Yoga, is one of the ancient physical ways that involves a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices that helps in transforming the mind and maintaining the harmony between the mind and the body. Yoga is one of the holistic approaches to ones health and well-being so as to keep your mind and soul fit and healthy.In the recent years, Yoga has become quite popular among all age groups as it helps in uniting body and the consciousness to live a blissful life. Yoga has not only gained popularity in India but also across the globe due to its benefits and other aspects that helps in keeping the mind and soul quite balanced.
World Yoga Day or International Yoga Day was declared by the United Nations on 11th December 2014, after recognising the importance and the universal appeal of Yoga on the minds and soul. The declaration came after the call for the adoption of June 21st as International Day of Yoga by our Hon'ble Indian Prime Minister, when he addressed to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014 wherein he stated: "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature. " The date 21st June was suggested as it is also the Summer Solstice, as the World Yoga Day or International Day of Yoga, Mr. Narendra Modi had also added that, "the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world. " And now we're celebrating it every year. The main purpose of celebrating World Yoga day is mainly to raise the awareness of practising Yoga and its benefits across the globe so that every human could lead a blissful life.
To most of us, Yoga is limited to only the asanas or the yoga poses but we often fail to understand how much Yoga benefits to unite one's body, soul and breath. Meditation or Pranayam, Surya Namaskar, Kapalbhati, Tadasana, Trikonasanas are a few forms which one can start with as a beginner, all you've to do is focus on the breathing techniques in order to attain that healthy and fit body.
