How To Wash Teddy Bears At Home
Spot Washing
Rub the dirty spot on your teddy bear with a damp cloth. Apply some detergent or mixture of detergent and water on the cloth and gently rub it over the dirty area till clean. To rinse, rub the cleaned area with a soft towel damped in water.
Bear Baths
Fill a big bowl or sink with a mixture of soap and warm water and submerge the bear, after removing its clothes. Gently knead or massage the areas of the teddy bear with dirt, grime or stains, using your fingers. You can also use a sponge for tougher spots. Empty the bowl and fill it with clean warm water, submerge the teddy again and gently rinse it to remove the soap.
Machine Washing
First of all, check if your bear can be machine-washed. Do not machine-wash old teddy bears or the ones made of wool, mohair, alpaca, fur or rayon and the ones with add-ons like sequins, buttons, etc. Remove clothes, if any, and set the machine cycle to “hand-wash” or delicate. Make sure, you trim all the loose threads and sew up the tears and holes before washing.
