5 Tips To Make Mathematics Fun For Your Kids

“Help me with my Maths Homework.” This statement becomes scary for parents who have always had problems dealing with Mathematics. You might not be good at it, but your child can excel in Mathematics if he starts at an early age. As a parent, never scare your child if you had a horrific experience with numbers. Make your child friendly with numbers, show him some real-life examples where mathematics is used, make the subject fun for him. We've listed some fun ideas you can use to make your child love Mathematics.

1. Learn using Picture books

A picture speaks a thousand words. Indeed! There are many mathematics picture books, that make operation(addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) learning a playful process through pictures. Tell your child to count the pictures of the object illustrated. Read aloud the tables to your child. These books are super fun and easy.

2. Bring objects to life

When 2D doesn't work, bring pictures to life. Hand a certain number of fruits or objects like balls to your child and make him count the objects. Repeat the activity whenever you see several objects around.

3. Relate Maths to real-life situations

Tell your children about the importance of learning Mathematics in real life. Make them familiar with recording temperature in thermometer, telling time, and other areas where Mathematics is used, for example, the grocery bills. When your child will know the relevance, he will be keen to learn it.

4. Step out and have fun

When counting objects become monotonous at home, step out in the balcony, and do some learning. Tell your child about different shapes in the world, the speed of the car, and let him explore the outer world while learning Mathematics. You can ask your child to look for different shapes and count trees.

5. Make it a routine

Unless you bring Mathematics in the routine of your child, it will not become a lesson for him. We don't want the child to only have fun. Hence, do these fun-with-Mathematics sessions daily so that he befriends the numbers.

These were some fun activities you must do regularly to make Mathematics fun for him. Make Mathematics your child's cup of tea even if it wasn't yours!
