1. Identify your Food & Beverage Triggers

The first step in finding a solution is identifying the problem. There are several forms of unhealthy eating habits such as binge eating, anorexia or, bulimia. It is important to know why or when do you indulge in these practices and more importantly, what sort of food do you eat. The food we intake directly impacts the mood we are in. The best thing to do is to pen down the following things to identify your triggers. Know all the possible reasons. Are you eating because you have a craving or do you eat when you have some ongoing stress? Or, do you simply overeat when you are emotional? Ensure that the next time you go grocery shopping you do not buy any of these items.

2. Find a healthier substitute

Replace that cup of caffeine laden coffee with herbal chamomile tea as it is known for its calming effects. Substitute all the junk you eat with a bowl of fruits or that classic and crunchy Caesar salad. You don't have to stop eating when you are stressed, you just need to ensure that you eat right. 

3. Build a Food Calendar

Write down 30 interesting healthy things that you can think of such as boiled chicken, strawberry, sushi, risotto, etc. You can even write cuisines or collect recipes of healthy items you might want to try. Now take a piece of paper and build a calendar. Dedicate each day on the calendar to a food item. Next, ensure that on a respective day you eat the food you have assigned and strictly follow it. This would not only keep things interesting for you but also break the pattern of eating monotonous food every other day. If you have something to look forward to, you usually don't look back.

4. Healthy Diversions

Diversion can help you build healthier coping mechanisms and lifestyle. Listen to some good music and indulge in a robust workout. Try going for a brisk walk in the park. Maybe, watch a funny movie or read a good novel. These will definitely help!
