Exercising is essential for the physical and psychological well being of kids. However boring it may sound to them, but it doesn't always have to be a tedious and meticulous part of their daily schedule. In this article, we bring you some fun and interesting exercises that will not only keep your kids hooked, but will also encourage them to try these exercises at home.

Exercises That Kids Can Try At Home

1. Star jumps

Kids usually love these! Kids have to jump in the air and make an ‘X' with their limbs while shouting "I am a star!" To do this:

  • Keep your legs together and squat down while bending your knees.
  • Jump as high as you can in the air.
  • Stretch your arms and legs in the air outwards in a star-like formation.
  • Shout “I am a star”.
  • When you land, bend your knees and repeat.

2. Butterfly Kicks

Butterfly kicks are commonly known as horse kicks. They help in not only strengthening your kid's leg muscles but also help to develop coordination. This exercise is also a prerequisite for swimmers. To do this:

  • Place a mat and lay flat on it.
  • Extend your legs straight out on the floor.
  • Now move both your legs in the air at a 45-degree angle and then alternate between the left and right leg to move it in the upwards direction and repeat.
  • Ensure that your legs don't touch the floor.
  • You can also alternate sideways while performing this exercise. Move both your legs in the air and then move your left leg towards the right and simultaneously move your right leg towards the left.

3. Bear Crawls

Bear Crawls are a workout mobility exercise that help kids in building their core strength. It also helps strengthening their shoulders and leg muscles. It is also a fun exercise, as you can race with your kids to the finish line. To do this:

  • Get down on the ground and lift your body on your hands and knees.
  • Now you have to walk on your hands and knees while alternately moving your left leg with your right hand and your right leg with your left hand.
  • Now, race your kids to the finish line.

4. Burpees

Burpees act like drills for hyper-energetic kids. If you wish to channelize your kid's energy judiciously then burpees are the best exercise for them. To do this:

  • Stand straight and move both your arms upwards in the air.
  • Jump in this position and then squat down.
  • Lie flat on the mat and then perform a pushup.
  • And, then jump and perform a squat again. Stand up and move both your arms up in the air and repeat.

5. Skipping

Skipping is considered to be a full-body workout that helps you in improving your coordination, focus, and stamina. To do this:

  • Get a skipping rope and stand with your legs joint together.
  • Hold the skipping rope and position it behind you.
  • Move your arms in a 360-degree angle and jump each time the rope touches the ground in front of you.
