Mobile phone users in Delhi are likely to experience stronger 5G connections during and after the G20 Summit, according to the government. This city's 5G telecom infrastructure has undergone rapid improvements since it was confirmed as the G20 host of the massive event.

A major reason for improved mobile connections is that the 5,718 5G base transceiver stations, or BTS, were built in the month of January alone. There are now 10,662 operational BTS count in the city that promises reliable  and more stronger 5G connections.

Moreover, free WIFI services are available across the Bharat Mandapam complex in Pragati Maidan, which is the venue of the G20 Summit in Delhi.

To facilitate the foreign nationals, dignitaries and officials there has been relaxation of norms for verification based on one-time passwords (OTPs) in the digital Know Your Customer (KYC) process, during the G20 summit.

Verification of these individuals will be done based on passports. The Ministry of Communications said in a statement issued last week, stressing this will be a "one-time measure" because "it has been reported that foreign nationals, dignitaries and officials... are facing challenges in obtaining mobile connections... as they are unable to provide alternate phone numbers (for OTPs)".

The government also cautioned, these relaxations are "only for the foreign nationals, dignitaries and officials visiting India for the purpose of (the) G20 Summit".

The number of mobile connections needed to facilitate the for those attendess of the G20 Summit shows India's capability to provide mobile data services at some of the most affordable and lowest rates in the world.

The G20 summit shall take place over September 9th and September 10th - that will observe the result of the culmination of a year of planning and meetings involving ministers, government officials and senior diplomats. It is expected to conclude with the adoption of a declaration, reflecting leaders' commitment to discussed priorities.

Adding to the event, the Heads of State and other top leaders will be addressed by an artificial intelligence-generated 'avatar' at the 'Mother of Democracy' exhibition that will be hosted at the Bharat Mandapam to mark the G20 Summit.
