PF Balance Check: Learn How to Check Your PF Account Balance

Provident Fund (PF) is perhaps the easiest way to save for retirement; and employees often reach out to their employer, whenever in need to find out about their PF account and PF balance. However, with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) portal, EPFO App, Umang App or by a simple missed call or SMS, anyone can check their PF balance with utmost convenience. Using these online portals and apps, any employee availing the scheme can directly check their PF details, without their employer's intervention every time.

An Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a huge benefit for employees today when everyone is looking for tax-free returns. The EPF scheme was introduced in the year 1952 as a mandatory saving scheme. The major benefit of this scheme is that both the employee and the employer contribute to this saving pool and that also in equal amounts.

On October 1st 2014, the government of India launched the Universal Account Number (UAN) for employees, for the ease of portability. The UAN number is allotted to the employees contributing towards the PF, and acts as a standard account number for multiple IDs, which the user could have secured from different organisations. The UAN number is majorly used to track one's PF account balance and PF claim status.

Here are four simple ways to instantly check PF balance online, without having to wait for your employer to send it out to you.
