How To Be Your Child’s Best Friend
Friendship is the most extraordinary bond in the world. It goes on for the longest period of time. You tend to trust your friend with all your worries and sorrows. Friendship has the ability to mould a behaviour as well as a character. A parent does not become his child's best friend overnight. This is a gradual process and would require patience.
How To Be Your Child's Best Friend
1.Communicate With Your Child
Make sure to talk to your child every day. No matter how tired you are, you have to sit and talk to your little friend for a few minutes. Make sure your child knows that you will always get back to him/her no matter what. While you start connecting with your child, you will start noticing that your child will also start initiating conversations with you. You will realize how much your child waits to talk to you.
2. Appreciate Your Child
While your child is growing, he/she will fall several times, not just physically but also in terms of decision making. You have a very crucial role to play here. You have to always appreciate your child. Make sure that he never gives up, no matter how many times he fails. Keep appreciating him for trying consistently and encourage him to try again if he/she fails. Never let his trust in himself fade away. Remember, this will always make him turn up to you for any advice.
3. Watch Cartoons With Your Child
Children love watching TV. They love watching animated movies filled with adventure and laughter. When you sit and enjoy along with them, it creates a sense of belongingness and similar interests. Start imitating the cartoon characters to make your child laugh. While you take one step forward towards being your child's best friend, your child will take two steps towards you.
4. Let Them Help
Involve your child in day to day household tasks. Take them for grocery shopping. At home, let them help you in the smallest possible way. Let them apply butter on bread. This will make them responsible as they would feel that you trust them with your work. Friendship rests on the base of trust. Build your friendship castle and let the wonders happen.
5. Share Your Stories
Everyone has had their own journey of childhood. We all have had our bitter and sweet moments. Share your own childhood stories with your child. Try telling stories that match your child's situation. Before you even realize, you will start noticing that your child would start relating to it and start telling you his stories as well. Tell your child how your mom dad were your best friends and how you used to go around playing with them.
