E-commerce giant Amazon India is offering 20,000 temporary employment opportunities in its customer service organisation, in order to offer its customers a seamless online shopping experience. These openings will be for a set of cities and will offer a 'Virtual Customer Service' programme that will provide flexible work-from-home options. These associates will support customer services through phone, e-mail, chat and social media.

These temporary opportunities will get converted into permanent positions by the end of the year, based on the performance of the candidates. These job opportunities will provide job securities and livelihood to the deserving candidates during these unprecedented times.

Amazon India Director (Customer Service), Akshay Prabhu said, "We are continuously evaluating hiring needs across the customer service organisation in response to the growing customer demand. We estimate that customer traffic will further scale up over the next six months with the onset of Indian and global holiday seasons."

Eligibility Criteria For Jobs at Amazon India

Candidates should have a minimum educational qualification of 12th standard, and proficiency in languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada.

Previously, by the start of 2020, Amazon had announced to create one million new jobs in India by 2025  in areas like technology, infrastructure, and its logistics network, through continued investments. It will now also include direct and indirect jobs across industries like including information technology, retail, logistics, skill development, content creation and manufacturing.

In May 2020, Amazon India had also announced 50,000 seasonal roles for its warehousing and delivery networks. Amazon India came up with these openings to meet the surging online demand for products post-lockdown.
