A Hello Kitty Flight is all set to take off. The popular Japanese fictional character and an inspiration for a wide range of merchandise, will be seen flying high in the air, to nowhere, soon.

EVA Air, one of the biggest carriers in Taiwan, will fly a Hello Kitty themed plane to nowhere. As per EVA Air's website, the airline is offering the special no-destination flight on August 8, which is celebrated as Father's Day in Taiwan.

This is being done to satiate the travel starved populace of Taiwan, which, much like the rest of the world, is unable to take holidays or travel far-and-wide due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The flight will take two hours and forty five minutes to complete its ‘journey'. The Hello Kitty plane will take off from Taipei Taoyuan Airport, circle the skies, and then return to the same airport.

While aboard, passengers will be able to take in views of several attractions including Guishan Island and the Huadong coastline, as well as some other nearby islands.

Passengers will be flying on one of the very popular and unique Hello Kitty Dream jets.

EVA Air has seven jets that adorn the much loved Hello Kitty. The character is painted on the side of each aircraft, with every plane featuring Hello Kitty and her various friends in different scenes. These unique planes usually fly from Taipei to Tokyo, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Seoul, Guam, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.

The Hello Kitty flights are not just unique from the outside — they are also special from the inside, featuring the Hello Kitty theme in almost everything, from printed cushion covers to pink champagne.

Special Features Aboard The Hello Kitty Flight To Nowhere

In addition, duty-free goods will be available for pre-purchase for the passengers

Passengers will be treated with Hello Kitty themed in-flight amenities, a feature that all of the Hello Kitty flights have. There will also be free WiFi for texting and an in-flight entertainment system, which is usually reserved for long-haul flights.

A highlight of the flight will be the Michelin star main course that will be served to all passengers.

The flight will be operating under flight number BR5288. When spoken, the code translates to "I love dad" in the Chinese language Mandarin.

How Much Will The Flight To Nowhere Cost?

The tickets to nowhere cost USD 180 ( Rs. 13, 500) for Economy and USD 215 ( Rs. 16,000) for Business Class seats.

Not The First Time

Taiwanese airlines have come to quench the travel thirst of its people in unique ways, in the past as well. In June this year, Songshan Airport hosted a fake travel experience that allowed travellers to go through the entire procedure of check-in, security, and boarding a flight. The difference- this was a flight that was never going to take off for anywhere. After their identification inspections, ‘travellers' boarded the plane. The experience was enjoyed by 60 people, who were randomly selected out of the 7,000 applications.

It is not the first time for dear Hello Kitty as well, in the world of travel.

As per Conde Nast Traveller, Hello Kitty was appointed the United Nations Travel Ambassador in 2017, to promote responsible travel. Her duties involved encouraging people to use travel to promote positive change. In the same year, she and the Pokémon character Pikachu were selected to promote Japanese city Osaka for the 2025 World Expo. She was also supposed to represent Team USA as their Global Ambassador for Inclusivity at the 2020 Olympics and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
