  • Peshwai

Peshwai also known as Praveshai marks the beginning of Kumbh Mela. A grand procession lead by Sadhus of various Akharas is carried out in the city. Saints arrive on beautifully decorated elephants, horses and lavish carriages with bands. People of the city also offer their service to these saints and shower petals of flower while the procession passes by.

  • Cultural Events

The Kumbh Mela 2019 shall feature 5 cultural Pandals for displaying a series of cultural events ranging from musical performances to traditional and folk dances on a daily basis from January 2019 onwards. Ganga Pandal will be the mega structure

  • Tourist Walks

The government of Uttar Pradesh has unveiled and demarcated special routes for Tourist Walks for visitors who come to visit Allahabad during Kumbh Mela 2019. Various starting point have been set to start the tourist walk with stops at different tourist attractions in Prayagraj.

  • Waterways

Waterways since ages has been a major source of transportation, and waterways has always been given due importance during the Kumbh Mela. This time again the UP government in association with Inland Waterways Authority of India is organizing a ferry services on the river Yamuna near Sangam Ghat. The route for this service will start from Sujawan Ghat to Rail Bridge (Naini Side) to Boat Club Ghat to Saraswati Ghat and ends at Kila Ghat.

  • Laser Light Shows

To enhance the experience of the large influx of Pilgrims, patrons, domestic and international tourists that are expected to visit the Kumbh Mela 2019, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has made provisions for a Laser Light and Sound Show at the Prayagraj Fort Wall.

  • Thematic Gates

The Government of UP has also decided to set up over 25 temporary thematic gates, that shall mark the roads to the Mela area. Each of these thematically decorated gates will have a special identity of their own and will strongly be rooted to the local context inspired by the culture, tradition and socio-religious factors.

How to Reach Kumbh
