McAfee and Samsung Extend Partnership to Enhance Mobile Security
McAfee Corp. has announced the extension of its decade-long partnership with Samsung, aiming to bolster online protection for consumers. This expanded collaboration will see enhanced security measures across a range of Samsung mobile devices, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy Z Fold6.
As part of this partnership, McAfee Security will be pre-installed on new Samsung devices via the Galaxy Store. This integration features McAfee Scam Protection™, a patented AI technology designed to automatically identify and alert users to dangerous URLs in text messages. The technology also proactively blocks risky sites if users inadvertently click on scam links received through texts, emails, social media posts, and other channels.
The McAfee Security app will also be available for purchase through the Galaxy Store for existing Samsung device users in 98 markets, ensuring broad access to advanced online protection. This move comes at a time when cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated. With the rise of AI, cybercriminals are deploying more convincing and personalized scams, making it more challenging for users to identify fraudulent content. According to recent data, 50% of mobile users feel AI has made it harder to spot online scams, and 39% have reported clicking on scam messages.
In addition to McAfee Security, Samsung's latest Galaxy devices are equipped with Advanced Intelligence settings, allowing users to control how their data is used to enhance AI experiences. This feature helps address growing concerns about online privacy and identity protection, with 90% of global respondents expressing worries about their mobile security, as noted in McAfee's recent Mobile Threat Survey.
