Anushka Sharma Replies To Gavaskar's Remark On Kohli's Performance
Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has created a controversy by making a remark on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma during commentating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
Gavaskar, in his commentary said "Ab jo lockdown tha toh, sirf Anushka ke bowling ki practice ki unhone, voh video dekhiye, Usse toh kuch nahi banna hai (During the lockdown, he only practiced against Anushka's bowling. Watch the video, that won't help)."
Gavaskar was discussing a video clip that went viral on Kohli's fan page on social media. In the video clip, both Kohli and Sharma can be seen playing on a terrace garden.
Gavaskar's remark has created outrage among Kohli's fans, who have urged the Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) to remove Gavaskar from the commentary panel of IPL.
Reacting to Gavaskar's comments, Kohli's wife and Bollywood actress Sharma also reacted on Twitter. She termed Gavaskar's comments distasteful by writing “Mr Gavaskar, your message is distasteful is a fact but I would love for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband's game? I am sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game.”
There have been many instances where Sharma has been a victim by receiving harsh comments from cricket fans due to Kohli's poor performances. Currently, the 32-year-old Bollywood actress and Kohli are expecting their first child.
On the field, Kohli and his men had a bad day. In the match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), skipper Kohli dropped his counterpart KL Rahul on 83 and 89, and with the bat also, Kohli scored only one run. RCB lost the match by 97 runs.
